Shipping and Returns


J.R. Mahoney Limited uses a variety of shipping methods including Canada Post, several courier and freight companies as well as our own vehicles for local deliveries. You will be given shipping options to choose from at the checkout.


It may be necessary to break large orders up into smaller packages or to ship multiple pieces on a pallet. We will advise you before shipping any order that may require special handling at your delivery location, such as palletized goods.


Canada Post rates will be calculated at checkout, for packages that fall within Canada Post size and weight limits. Maritime Courier shipping limited to 20 Lbs and only NS, NB and PE destinations.For all other shipping methods we will contact you after your order is placed to advise rates and delivery options based on your location.


Our "Free Shipping" option is limited to NS, NB and PE destinations.
Total value of order before taxes must be $300.00 or more.
Total weight is limited to 50 Lbs or less.


We cannot ship to P.O. Box addresses. Please ensure that your delivery address is correct. Any lost or delayed shipments due to delivery address errors are your responsibility.

We do not ship to addresses outside of Canada.


In most cases, for in stock items, we will ship your items within 1 to 3 business days. Delivery times will vary based on the carrier used, your location and time of year. If we anticipate any unusual delays we will contact you. You may also contact us if you have concerns about delivery delays.



Items that are large or heavy may need special arrangements for delivery. If these are delivered by freight carriers please note that you will be responsible to get the item off the delivery truck and into your premises. Freight carriers are only responsible for curbside delivery. In some cases tailgate delivery may be available. We also offer a service to bring large items into your premises using our own delivery personnel. This is available, at extra cost, in a very limited area of Cape Breton only. We recommend that you contact us for assistance with delivery arrangements on large or heavy items.


When you receive your order it is your responsibility to ensure that you have received all your packages in good condition. You must note any damaged or missing items on the delivery receipt before you sign it. You may contact us if you need assistance filling a claim with the carrier.

Contact us if you find that you have not received all the items you have ordered.



If you wish you can pick up your order at our store located at 1810 Kings Rd, Sydney River NS or 564 Water St, Miramichi, NB.
After you place your order we will advise you when it is ready to be picked up. If you will be sending someone else to pick up your order you must advise us beforehand.

Please bring your order number, credit card used for purchase and one piece of government issued photo ID.




At J.R. Mahoney Limited we want you to be completely satisfied with your online purchase. Items purchased may be returned or exchanged within 30 days of purchase subject to the conditions outlined below. After the 30-day period we can offer exchange only on your item up to 90 days from date of purchase.

  • We will not refund shipping charges nor pay for return shipping charges, unless the item was received because of our error.
  • Item must be in original packaging, clean, unused, unmodified and in resalable condition.
  • We will require a copy of the original sales invoice/receipt.
  • Items that were direct shipped from a manufacturer or vendor may need special arrangements for return based on manufacturer or vendor policies. Contact us for instructions.
  • All returns must be pre- approved by us, no exceptions. Contact us via email at or by telephone at 1-902-564-6296 to arrange return authorization and receive return shipping instructions. Additional contact information is listed in the “Contact Us” section of our website.



Once your return has been approved we will advise you how to ship the item back to us. When returning high value items you should consider additional insurance coverage with the carrier.
You may also return it in person at our store, which is also our shipping location.

The following items are non-returnable:

  • Special order items. This includes any item that is not part of our normal inventory. It may include items flagged as “Special Order” in our online store as well as unlisted items requested by you.
  • Custom built or modified items.
  • Cut length items.
  • Electrical/electronic parts and supplies.
  • Gift Cards.
  • Clearance items.




All items should be inspected when received and any damage reported immediately to the carrier. We recommend documenting damages, including packaging that is visibly damaged, by photographing the damage. Hidden damage that was not apparent when item was delivered should also be documented and reported to the carrier. You may contact us if you require assistance with this process. Do not return the item to us without our express and written approval.



 Most of the items we sell are covered by a manufactures warranty. Since our various manufacturers and suppliers have different warranty policies and procedures we require you to contact us for return and replacement instructions on items that do not function when received, that is are “dead on arrival” (DOA). Do not return the item to us without our express and written approval.
